Las Vegas Sands has reinforced its commitment to tackling youth homelessness in Nevada with a substantial $300,000 donation to the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY). This contribution, part of the 2026 Sands Cares initiative, aims to fund essential programmes for youth in crisis, bolster NPHY's capacity, and support the Movement to End Youth Homelessness in Nevada.
The donation brings Sands' total contributions to NPHY to $3.2 million since 2014. This funding is crucial as Nevada's first statewide study on youth homelessness in 2025 revealed that nearly 3,000 unaccompanied youth accessed homeless services in one year, with the actual number potentially exceeding 33,000.
The Sands Cares investment focuses on three key areas: providing immediate relief to youth in crisis, strengthening NPHY's organisational capacity, and advocating for systemic change. The funding will support NPHY's comprehensive care continuum, including outreach, crisis intervention, and housing programmes. Notably, NPHY's emergency shelter remains one of the few privately funded options in Southern Nevada for unaccompanied minors.
Arash Ghafoori, CEO of NPHY, praised Sands as a "transformational partner" in their mission to provide stability and lasting solutions for homeless youth. The partnership is set to advance further with the development of Nevada's first standalone plan to end youth homelessness and the 10th annual Nevada Youth Homelessness Summit in November.
Ron Reese, Sands' senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs, emphasised the ongoing challenges and the need for continued investment in NPHY's mission to ensure safety nets for vulnerable youth
