Atmosphere Core, co-founded by Indian entrepreneur Salil Panigrahi, has expanded its global presence by opening Borgo Monchiero Heritage in Italy's UNESCO-listed Langhe region.

The luxury retreat, set to open on 16 July 2026, marks the company's European debut, adding to its existing portfolio in the Maldives and India.

The restored 18th-century monastery offers 25 rooms and suites, blending historical architecture with modern luxury. The project, led by architect Stefano Tardito, preserves the monastery's original stone walls and volumes whilst introducing contemporary hospitality elements. This sensitive restoration earned the Rēgula Award 2025 in the Hospitality Structures category.

Salil Panigrahi, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Atmosphere Core, stated, “The Borgo Monchiero project perfectly combines the ‘Joy of Giving’ hospitality philosophy, shared by all Atmosphere Core properties, with the promise of the Heritage by Atmosphere sub-brand to breathe new life into extraordinary places.”

The retreat offers a rich cultural experience, featuring regional gastronomy led by Executive Chef Giorgio Servetto, wellness facilities, and curated local explorations. Guests can enjoy the Langhe's vineyards, culinary traditions, and art through various activities, including wine tours and truffle hunting.
