MEETINGS 2026, held at the New Zealand International Convention Centre in June, has set a new benchmark by generating $100 million (NZD170 million) in business event bookings, marking a 55% increase from the previous year. The event attracted a record 1,600 attendees, including over 700 qualified buyers and more than 260 exhibitors from 19 regions.

The Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) Chief Executive, Lisa Hopkins, highlighted the event's success, stating, “This reinforces the positive momentum which is being felt across the sector, with strong interest from both domestic and international buyers to hold business events in New Zealand.” She emphasised the importance of MEETINGS as a key trade event that connects the industry with decision-makers, fostering opportunities for future business.

Data collected from surveys completed by hosted and day buyers, and independently verified, revealed that whilst the percentage of buyers booking business remained similar to last year, the average value of projected bookings saw a significant rise. The number of buyers increased by 20%, contributing to the overall growth in projected turnover.

Hopkins noted the satisfaction scores from exhibitors and visitors, underscoring the quality of connections made at the event. “The strong satisfaction scores from exhibitors and visitors show the quality of the connections taking place and the importance of MEETINGS for building new partnerships and future events,” she said.

Looking ahead, the 30th MEETINGS will take place at the same venue in Auckland on 29 to 30 June 2027, marking a significant milestone for an event that has significantly contributed to New Zealand's economy over the past three decades
