Tumodo, a UAE-based business travel platform, has unveiled Theo, a conversational AI analyst designed to enhance travel spend management. As global business travel expenditure is expected to reach $1.69 trillion in 2026, Theo offers a solution to the prevalent manual reporting processes, which only a third of companies have automated.
Theo integrates with Tumodo's existing analytics, allowing travel managers and finance teams to query travel expenses in natural language. It provides answers in text, charts, or tables, offering real-time insights into spending patterns, policy violations, and cost breakdowns by department and service type. This tool is designed to help companies adapt their travel programmes by benchmarking against similar businesses on the platform.
The AI analyst operates in a read-only mode, ensuring data security by not booking or altering travel plans. It also respects user permissions, staying silent if it cannot verify access rights. Tumodo's internal tests suggest that acting on Theo's recommendations could lead to savings of 3-10% in travel budgets.
Vladimir Kokorin, founder of Tumodo, highlighted the efficiency Theo brings: “Before, going from a question like ‘how much are we spending on hotels this quarter’ to an actual number meant an export, a set of filters, and a pivot table. Now it’s one message in a chat.”
Theo is the first in a series of AI tools Tumodo plans to release, including AI-assisted booking and "super-agents" for routine tasks. This initiative marks a significant step in Tumodo's strategy to leverage AI for comprehensive travel management solutions
