Alaska Airlines launches 50th nonstop destination from San Diego

Alaska Airlines is marking its 40th anniversary in San Diego by launching its 50th nonstop destination from the city. The new seasonal route to Loreto, Mexico, will commence on 19 December 2026, offering a warm winter escape to one of Mexico's serene coastal areas. Tickets for this new service are now available on the airline's website.

The airline, which offers more nonstop destinations from San Diego than any other carrier, is celebrating this milestone with a guest appreciation campaign. This includes an anniversary giveaway where 40 loyal guests will receive Atmos Rewards Gold status, and one grand prize winner will be awarded 1 million Atmos Rewards points.

Darren Scott, Managing Director of Network at Alaska Airlines, expressed pride in offering extensive nonstop services from San Diego, stating, "Launching our 50th nonstop destination from San Diego as we celebrate 40 years of serving the region is a meaningful way to thank our guests."

The new route will operate twice weekly until April 2027, using Embraer E175 aircraft operated by SkyWest Airlines. Passengers can enjoy complimentary high-speed Starlink WiFi, courtesy of T-Mobile.

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria highlighted the significance of this expansion, noting that more nonstop services mean increased travel opportunities for residents and economic support for the local community.

Alaska Airlines, which began its San Diego operations on 1 December 1986, continues to invest in the city, with plans to open one of the largest airline lounges there by 2028. The airline remains committed to strengthening its ties with the community and expanding its network.
