Starting 1 October 2026, the airline will operate three Boeing 737-800 freighter aircraft under a wet-lease agreement with SolitAir, providing 23,000 kg of additional payload capacity per flight.
Based at Al Maktoum International Airport, the new freighter fleet will complement flydubai's existing cargo capabilities across its 98 Boeing 737 passenger aircraft. This expansion is designed to cater to high-demand sectors such as pharmaceuticals, perishables, live animals, and aerospace components. The initiative aligns with Dubai's Economic Agenda D33, aiming to create new opportunities for businesses to access global markets.
Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, Ghaith Al Ghaith, stated, “The launch of dedicated freighter operations marks an important step in flydubai’s evolution and reflects our commitment to supporting Dubai's vision through enhanced trade connectivity and logistics capabilities.”
The operation will offer point-to-point charter and scheduled freighter services across more than 125 destinations, including Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. This strategic move will enable flydubai Cargo to transition into a full-service logistics provider, offering both scheduled freight routes and ad-hoc charter solutions.
Chief Commercial Officer, Hamad Obaidalla, highlighted the importance of the new hub at DWC, saying, “Establishing DWC as our freighter hub gives our commercial partners direct access to Dubai's world-class logistics ecosystem, backed by tailored products designed for high-value and sensitive cargo.”
This development positions flydubai to meet evolving trade requirements and expand its regional connectivity, with plans to evaluate further fleet expansions from 2029 onwards.
