Journey Beyond, Australia's leading experiential tourism group, has announced a significant refurbishment of Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef, set to reopen in March 2027. The $5m (US$5m) project aims to redefine barefoot luxury at the eco-luxury lodge, nestled within Cape Range National Park, by introducing new Wilderness Tents and enhanced guest facilities.

The refurbishment will feature 16 new eco-luxury Wilderness Tents, each equipped with ensuite bathrooms and designed with a marine-inspired colour palette. The central area will include a revamped sundeck and lounge, a new dining area with banquette-style seating, and an all-inclusive open bar.

Chris Tallent, CEO of Journey Beyond, emphasised the group's commitment to enhancing guest experiences, stating, "The evolution of Sal Salis reflects our commitment to continually elevating the guest experience."

Designed by global firm Woods Bagot, the project draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape. Director Rosina Di Maria noted, "Materiality plays a central role with colour and pattern reflecting the terrain's tactility." The design incorporates timber, reclaimed jarrah, and coastal elements to harmonise with the natural environment.

Beyond visual enhancements, the culinary experience will also be refined, featuring locally sourced produce and Western Australian wines. Guests can engage in guided experiences, including snorkelling and whale swims, offering unique encounters with the region's marine life.

Bookings for the 2027 season are now open, promising a blend of luxury and nature at this iconic Australian destination.
