Air New Zealand has reported a significant improvement in its flight punctuality for August, with 85.3% of flights arriving within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. This marks an increase from 83.1% in July and 81.8% in August of the previous year, surpassing the global average of 73.1% for the same period.

The airline operated 13,053 flights across its domestic and international network during the month. International services saw a notable improvement, with 80.4% of flights arriving on time, up from 74.5% in July. Regional punctuality also improved to 86.8%, whilst domestic jet services maintained an 85.3% on-time rate.

Kate Boyer, Air New Zealand's Chief Operations Officer, Ground and In-Flight, highlighted the importance of meeting customer expectations. "From a customer’s point of view, it’s pretty simple: get me there when you said you would, and make sure my bag gets there too," she stated.

The airline also maintained a low mishandled baggage rate, with 2.77 bags per 1,000 mishandled, significantly below the global average of 4.9 per 1,000. This achievement is attributed to improved scanning and traceability, which enhance visibility and efficiency in baggage handling.

Air New Zealand's efforts have placed it fourth among Asia Pacific airlines for on-time performance, according to Cirium’s monthly rankings. The airline continues to focus on punctuality and reliability, aiming to deliver consistent service to its customers.
