Eurostar to boost London-Amsterdam Route with fifth daily train by Dec 2025
Eurostar announces that from 15th December 2025, Eurostar will operate five direct trains per day in each direction, offering passengers even greater flexibility and convenience when traveling between the UK and the Netherlands. This significant milestone was made possible thanks to the opening of the brand-new cross-channel terminal in Amsterdam in February 2025, allowing Eurostar to triple its capacity on the route—from 275 passengers in 2024 to more than 650 passengers per train at the end of this year. With this upgrade, the terminal will operate at full capacity, providing a seamless travel experience from city center to city center. Following the opening of the new terminal, passenger volume from London to Amsterdam is now up +18% year-on-year, compared to the same period last year*. “London to Amsterdam is one of the busiest routes by plane in Europe. With five daily returns, and 3000+ seats per day, we are offering a sustainable alternative to travel between the UK and the Netherlands. Since February, we’ve seen exceptional demand on our Amsterdam route, and the addition of a fifth daily service gives customers more choice and flexibility. It’s our ambition to offer a sustainable alternative and grow international high-speed rail as customers first choice across Europe.” said Gwendoline Cazenave, CEO of Eurostar. Business travel continues to play a key role in this route's success. Between London and Amsterdam, 15% of passengers in 2024—approximately 130,000 travelers—were business customers, highlighting the importance of this route for corporate connectivity. The Netherlands remains a strategic market for Eurostar, offering substantial growth potential in sustainable travel. In 2024 alone, Eurostar transported 4.3 million passengers to and from the Netherlands. Eurostar has set an ambitious target to carry 30 million passengers annually, supported by the acquisition of a new fleet and additional destinations out of Amsterdam such as Geneva. This new London-Amsterdam journey is a proof point to Eurostar’s commitment to connecting people and places more efficiently and sustainably, while delivering a unique, high-speed, low-carbon travel experience.
Eurostar Unveils Newly Renovated Lounges in Paris and Brussels
Eurostar, the high-speed European rail service, is pleased to unveil the latest upgrades to its revamped Premier offering, following the introduction of new onboard chefs last winter. As part of continued investment in station facilities, Eurostar has partnered with Chris Bagot Architects to redesign its Premier lounges in Brussels and Paris. With renovations in both cities now complete, the spaces are open to Eurostar Premier passengers as well as Carte Blanche and Carte Étoile loyalty members. Drawing from local inspirations Each lounge draws inspiration from its local surroundings. In Brussels, design highlights include Belgian-made pieces such as the Hanging Lamp by Muller Van Severen and a solid oak table by Heerenhuis. In Paris, the lounge channels the spirit of traditional Parisian cafés, reimagined with a modern, refined touch. Black-and-white tiled floors and oak panelling bring warmth, while Calacatta Viola marble adds elegance. Contemporary European pieces - such as Hideout armchairs by Gebrüder Thonet and Kashmir stools by Resident - introduce a fresh, modern edge. Sustainability at the heart of design Sustainability has been at the heart of both renovations. Eurostar has prioritised the use of environmentally responsible materials, working with renowned European makers to create chic, considered spaces that balance elegance with conscious design. Handcrafted elements and durable, high-quality furniture ensure the lounges offer a refined experience with a lighter footprint. Spaces to unwind and enjoy Each lounge also features a dedicated bar, where guests can enjoy a cocktail before departure. For those seeking a quieter moment, more private seating areas provide space to relax with a coffee and one of the many complimentary magazines on offer.

Eurostar pledges to power trains with 100% renewable energy by 2030
Eurostar, the high-speed rail network linking France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK, announces its goal of enabling 30 million passengers to travel sustainably while lowering carbon emissions by 2030. Detailed in its first sustainability report, Eurostar's sustainability strategy focuses on three main areas. Reducing its impact by sourcing renewable energies for its traction needs and reducing its energy requirements. For example, through its Memorandum of Understanding signed with Infrabel in February 2024 to study the installation of novel solar projects to power trains. Integrating circularity throughout the value chain, i.e. from production to end-of-life, to minimize waste and use resources more efficiently. For instance, every on-board dish is thoughtfully curated with sustainable sourcing and environmentally friendly options in mind. These efforts have already been rewarded as Eurostar received a three-star rating from the Food Made Good Awards for its on-board catering offer. Attracting more passengers to its low-carbon service by continuing to develop "open hubs", to connect Eurostar services to domestic networks or long-haul flights, for example through its air-rail partnership with KLM. Ambition: 100% renewable energy by 2030 One of Eurostar's primary objectives is to work with partners and regulators in its quest to power its trains using 100% renewable energy by 2030. "This is a deliberately ambitious target, Eurostar wants to use its brand and commitment to accelerate change across the sector," explains Eurostar CEO Gwendoline Cazenave. "To achieve our goal, we work closely together with our partners in each of our markets, we encourage regulatory support for the rapid deployment of new renewable energy projects." To facilitate this work, Eurostar recently joined the RE100 alliance with companies committed to sourcing 100% of their energy from renewable sources. "We're proud to be the first rail company to join," continues Gwendoline Cazenave. "Today, the transport sector accounts for 25% of European greenhouse gas emissions, making sustainable high-speed rail a key solution to a quarter of Europe’s climate problem”. Ollie Wilson, Head of RE100, Climate Group: “We’re delighted to welcome Eurostar to RE100, the first rail firm to join. Eurostar is setting a global example and leading the way on renewables powering our rail networks. Eurostar now has the opportunity to draw on a global network of over 400 companies as it works towards 30 million journeys a year powered by 100% renewable electricity by 2030. We encourage other businesses in the rail sector to follow Eurostar’s lead and commit to 100% renewable electricity.” Currently, in the Netherlands, Eurostar trains have been running on 100% wind power since 2017, and this figure has reached 40% in the UK since 2023. In Belgium, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Infrabel in February 2024 to study the installation of novel solar projects to power trains. Eurostar takes responsibility for reducing its own emissions and environmental footprint to ensure that every one of its passengers is transported at the lowest possible environmental cost. "We're building the backbone of sustainable travel in Europe, with a target of 30 million passengers by 2030, at the same time we're also committed to building the mode of international transport that has the least negative impact on the planet, reducing emissions even as we grow."
