After Phuket, Koh Samui reopening on July 15 on track

Following the smooth launch of Phuket Sandbox Programme last July 1, Koh Samui is slated to reopen next on July 15.

Applications for the Certificate of Entry (COE) under the Samui Plus programme are set to open this week for vaccinated tourists. Yuthasak Supasorn, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor, said that there will be no delay for the approval of the reopening.

The programme just needs the seal of approval of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) in order to start the registration process.

Every passenger traveling to Koh Samui must fill in the personal health declaration online and must follow the following procedure for their travel:

Day 0 (waiting)

  • First PCR test at the airport, room quarantine in a ALQ hotel

Day 1 – 3 (Area Quarantine)

  • If the result of the PCR test is negative, traveller can relax and enjoy areas inside the ALQ hotel

Day 4 – 7 (Sealed Route)

  • Traveller is free to engage in activities on ‘sealed routes’ approved by the public heath
  • Second PCR test
  • After 7 days, with negative test results, guests can check out of ALQ hotel

Day 8 – 14

  • Stay at any hotel or villa that is SHA Plus certified (Samujana!)
  • Third PCR test
  • If the result of the PCR test is negative the traveller can travel freely in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan & Koh Tao
  • Travellers must stay in SHA plus certified hotels

After a complete two week stay in designated areas, tourists with a negative result will be free to travel to other provinces nationwide.
