Air Canada launches Toronto-Shannon direct flights

Air Canada has announced the introduction of a seasonal nonstop service from Toronto to Shannon, Ireland, set to operate from June to October 2027. This new route will provide Canadian travellers with direct access to Ireland's west coast, a region renowned for its stunning landscapes and cultural heritage.

The service aims to strengthen the growing connection between Canada and Ireland, which has seen a 35% increase in visitors over the past three years.

Sandra Bailey Moffatt, Country Director for Canada at Tourism Ireland, highlighted the significance of this development, stating, "Air Canada's announcement of a new nonstop route strengthens connectivity between our countries, making it easier for returning and new holidayseekers to experience what Ireland has to offer."

Shannon Airport serves as a gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way, the world's longest defined coastal touring route. Visitors can explore famous attractions such as the Cliffs of Moher and the Ring of Kerry, as well as indulge in Ireland's rich culinary scene, from Michelin-starred restaurants to local pubs offering traditional Irish Coffee.

The new route also provides access to some of Ireland's finest golf courses, including those in Lahinch, Ballybunion, and Adare Manor, the latter set to host the 2027 Ryder Cup. Additionally, travellers can explore nearby cities such as Limerick, Galway, and Cork, each offering unique cultural and historical experiences.

Tourism Ireland continues to promote the island as a premier holiday destination, with Canada ranking among its top five international tourism markets. The new Toronto-Shannon route is expected to further boost tourism and provide Canadians with a convenient entry point to explore Ireland's west coast.
