AirAsia marked a major milestone in its regional expansion with the official launch of Cebu as its newest hub in the Philippines, underscoring the airline’s commitment to growth and connectivity across Asean. The new hub will serve as a strategic gateway to enhance accessibility between the Philippines and the rest of Asia, including Malaysia, leveraging Cebu’s position as one of the country’s fastest-growing tourism and business centres. With this development, AirAsia is set to further solidify its standing as the Philippines’ fastest-growing low-cost carrier.
Cebu will now join Manila as a key operating hub for AirAsia Philippines (flight code Z2), enabling the airline to expand its reach to more domestic and international destinations. For Malaysian travellers, this move opens up smoother connections to the Visayas and Mindanao regions, as well as improved access to popular leisure destinations such as Bohol, Cagayan de Oro and Davao.
Set to officially take off on 15 November 2025, AirAsia Philippines will fly Cebu-Kuala Lumpur-Cebu (14x weekly), Cebu-Davao-Cebu (18x weekly), Cebu-Caticlan-Cebu (11x weekly), Cebu-Iloilo-Cebu (4x weekly), and Cebu-Macao-Cebu (3x weekly).
Amanda Woo, Group Chief Commercial Officer of AirAsia, said: “The reopening of the Cebu hub signals AirAsia Group’s strong commitment to the Philippines, exploring new gateways that will drive great economic opportunities. This shall allow travellers from the southern part of the country to directly access over 130 destinations across Asean, North Asia and Europe via our mega hub in Kuala Lumpur. We laud our partners from the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA), the Philippine Government and other stakeholders for ensuring the success of this comeback initiative.”
Via this new hub, AirAsia guests can now enjoy direct connectivity between Cebu and the airline’s main hub in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur with promotional all-in-one-way fares from only RM288*. In addition, travellers from Cebu will get to access Greater China affordably via direct connectivity to Macao.
From now till 21 September 2025, guests can book direct flights via Cebu through MOVE app from as low as PHP904* for all-in-one-way fares for travel between 15 November 2025 and 28 March 2026. The promotion fare covers newly reopened routes from Cebu, including Iloilo, Caticlan and Davao.
Located in the heart of the Visayas, Cebu is a key hub for AirAsia in the Philippines, serving as a key gateway to the central and southern region of the country. With seamless connectivity to beautiful islands like Bohol, Siquijor, and Dumaguete, Cebu is the perfect base for island-hopping adventures, nature escapes and heritage experiences that go beyond the typical tourist trail.
The Cebu hub will initially serve flights to five combined domestic and international destinations, with further growth expected in the coming months. This expansion aligns with AirAsia’s ongoing efforts to build a stronger multi-hub strategy in the Philippines while maximising synergies with the wider AirAsia network in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
