Airbus Asia Training Centre (AATC), a collaboration between Airbus and Singapore Airlines, is set to introduce an A220 Full-Flight Simulator (FFS) at its Singapore campus by Q4 2027.

This move aims to meet the increasing demand for pilot and maintenance training on the A220 aircraft in the Asia Pacific region. The announcement was made at the Asia Pacific Aviation Training Summit 2026 in Bangkok.

The deployment of the A220 Training Services will be executed in partnership with Flight Training Alliance (FTA), the Airbus Authorised Training Provider for the A220. FTA, a joint venture between CAE and Lufthansa Aviation Training, will manage the simulator deployment, whilst AATC will oversee operations and training delivery.

Silvia Meloni, General Manager of AATC, stated, "Establishing A220 training capabilities in the region is a strategic enabler for Airbus's growth footprint in Asia Pacific." She emphasised that the simulator will offer airline operators convenient access to world-class training, facilitating the safe and efficient integration of the A220 fleet.

The A220, known for its long range and lower operating costs, is expected to play a crucial role in expanding airline connectivity beyond traditional megacities. With over 532 A220s delivered globally and more than 1,100 orders, the aircraft is gaining momentum in the region.

AATC, located at Seletar Aerospace Park, is one of the largest flight crew training centres in the Airbus network, offering comprehensive training for various Airbus aircraft types. The addition of the A220 simulator is a significant step in supporting the region's aviation growth.
