Akasa Air strengthens domestic and international connectivity

Total departures from Delhi to increase by 56%, Capital city will now be connected to four metro and eight non-metro destinations

Akasa Air announced significant operational expansion driven by new routes and increased frequencies across its domestic and international network, effective from the winter schedule starting 27th October 2025. The airline’s expansion, marked by a 12% YoY increase in total departures and a 22% YoY rise in Available Seat Kilometres (ASKm), underscores Akasa Air’s steady and sustainable growth trajectory while reinforcing its commitment to making air travel increasingly affordable and accessible for a greater number of travellers.

Commenting on the expansion, Praveen Iyer, Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Akasa Air said: “Akasa Air was founded with a vision to democratise air travel in India while contributing meaningfully to the nation’s extraordinary growth story. India continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s most promising aviation markets. This expansion will play a key role in improving connectivity across the country and beyond, supporting mobility, trade, and tourism, while offering travellers enhanced choice and convenience through seamless and thoughtfully curated connections. Moreover, the emergence of Delhi as Akasa Air’s third operational base reflects the maturity and scalability of our network and operations.”

“Our growth is aligned with our goal of becoming one of the top 30 airlines by the turn of this decade. As we expand our wings, we remain committed to connecting people, places and cultures with warmth, dependability, and service excellence that are the hallmarks of Akasa”, he added.

Delhi emerges as Akasa Air’s third operational base

Total departures from Delhi will increase by ~56% as compared to Winter 2024, making the capital Akasa’s third operational base after Bengaluru and Mumbai. The airline will now operate over 165 weekly departures from the city, connecting it with 12 destinations, up from nine previously.

Akasa Air will introduce non-stop services connecting Delhi with three new destinations – Kolkata, Bagdogra, and Srinagar, and frequencies to various prominent destinations such as Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru will be ramped up to 4x daily, 2x daily and 5x daily, respectively.

With this, the airline will connect Delhi to four of India’s five metro cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad and eight non-metro destinations, offering travellers greater convenience and choice.

Enhanced domestic connectivity across key markets

Akasa Air recently launched operations to two domestic destinations- Kozhikode and Darbhanga, strengthening access across southern and eastern India.

The airline will bolster its footprint in Kolkata with 62 weekly departures, an increase from 52 departures. This will include the introduction of 2x daily flights connecting the city with Delhi, and convenient, through connections to Goa and Srinagar.

Expanding international footprint

Akasa Air continues to deepen its presence in international markets and recently launched daily direct flights connecting Phuket with Mumbai and Bengaluru.

The airline will further expand its footprint across the Middle East with a 14% increase in departures from Abu Dhabi, introducing non-stop flights connecting Abu Dhabi to Cochin and Chennai, bolstering connectivity to India’s southern belt, and strengthening its codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways. Departures from Jeddah will increase to 26 weekly flights, a ~270% increase from Winter 2024, while frequency to Riyadh will be ramped up to 5x weekly.

These enhancements further strengthen Akasa Air’s growing global network and reinforce its commitment to connecting India to the world with reliable operations and affordable fares.
