Ant Group has announced that its Alipay AI Pay and AI health app AQ have each surpassed 100 million users, marking a significant milestone in AI adoption during the 2026 Chinese New Year. This achievement underscores the growing integration of AI in daily life across China.
Alipay AI Pay, launched in 2025, became the world's first AI-native payment product to reach this user milestone on 23 February. The service, which allows users to make payments via voice command, processed over 120 million transactions during the week of 5-11 February. The app's seamless transaction capabilities have been integrated into various platforms, including brick-and-mortar retailers like Luckin Coffee and AI smart glasses such as Rokid.
Meanwhile, the AQ app, now the world's largest AI-native health app, gained traction through word of mouth and strategic marketing. During the holiday period, it saw a surge in downloads, ranking first on China's Apple App Store. Notably, 52% of new users came from third-tier cities and below, indicating its expanding reach beyond major urban centres. Popular features include health Q&A, AI skin analysis, and digital health records.
Ant Group's focused AI strategy targets high-barrier sectors like payments and healthcare, leveraging technology to address real-world challenges. This approach aligns with the company's long-standing philosophy of using innovation to meet societal needs whilst building competitive advantages
