The main body sections of the new aircraft will now be joined, with completion and delivery expected by the end of the year. Chile-based LAN will be the first Latin American carrier to fly the Dreamliner.

LAN’s first Dreamliner is the smaller B787-8 version, which will be configured with 217 seats in economy class and 30 in business.

The airline has ordered a total of 26 Dreamliners – 22 B787-8s and four B787-9s. LAN plans to fly the aircraft to destinations including Buenos Aires, Lima, Los Angeles, Madrid and Frankfurt.
