Boeing starts work on LAN’s first Dreamliner
LAN Airlines’ first Boeing 787 Dreamliner has entered the final assembly factory at Boeing’s plant in Washington state, US.
The main body sections of the new aircraft will now be joined, with completion and delivery expected by the end of the year. Chile-based LAN will be the first Latin American carrier to fly the Dreamliner.
LAN’s first Dreamliner is the smaller B787-8 version, which will be configured with 217 seats in economy class and 30 in business.
The airline has ordered a total of 26 Dreamliners – 22 B787-8s and four B787-9s. LAN plans to fly the aircraft to destinations including Buenos Aires, Lima, Los Angeles, Madrid and Frankfurt.
