Emirates SkyCargo has announced a partnership with Dogs 4 Wildlife, a UK-based charity, to combat poaching in Southern Africa. The collaboration will see Emirates SkyCargo transport highly trained conservation dogs from the UK to Zimbabwe, where they will assist wildlife rangers in Matusadona National Park. This initiative underscores Emirates' commitment to wildlife protection and combating illegal wildlife trafficking.

The first phase involves transporting two Belgian Malinois dogs, Vega and Kuda, known for their exceptional tracking abilities, from London to Harare via Dubai. These dogs are trained to track human scents and will form a new conservation K9 unit to support wildlife protection efforts in Zimbabwe. The dogs are scheduled to arrive in late June.

Emirates SkyCargo, known for its welfare-focused animal transportation services, will ensure the safe and reliable transport of these specialist dogs. Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, stated, "Protecting wildlife is a shared responsibility that requires collaboration, innovation, and long-term commitment."

Darren Priddle, Founder of Dogs 4 Wildlife, expressed pride in the partnership, noting that it represents more than just the transportation of animals but the movement of specialist conservation capability. The partnership aligns with Emirates' zero-tolerance approach to illegal wildlife trade and its broader efforts to prevent the movement of illicit wildlife products.

This announcement coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Buckingham Palace Declaration, highlighting the importance of cross-sector collaboration in tackling wildlife trafficking. Emirates continues to contribute to industry-wide efforts to protect endangered species for future generations
