Wyndham Hotel Group has announced plans to launch its upscale Howard Johnson brand in Indonesia.
The US hotel company will roll-out three Howard Johnson properties in the country, across three different locations – Bali, Surabaya and Makassar. The addition of the properties in the East Java city of Surabaya and Makassar in Sulawesi will also mark Wyndham’s first Indonesian hotels outside Bali.
Wyndham has also signed a deal for one more Ramada hotel in Indonesia, meaning that when all four hotels are open Wyndham’s Indonesian portfolio will more than double to seven hotels, in addition to the three Ramada properties currently operating in Bali.
The Howard Johnson Bali Benoa, Howard Johnson Surabaya East, Howard Johnson Makassar Central and Ramada Bali Lake Buyan will further boost Wyndham’s portfolio of more than 540 hotels currently open and operating in Asia Pacific.
In a separate deal, Wyndham has also moved to bring its extended stay Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham brand in India. The signing of the brand’s first Indian hotel in Amritsar is part of a major push into the Indian market for Wyndham, which includes the addition of six Howard Johnsons, four Ramadas and a Days Inn in key cities including Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
The Asia Pacific region has seen more than 110 more Wyndham properties open over the past 12 months, meaning that Asia is now the company’s second largest market outside the US.
