Money-saving travel hacks for UK travellers this season

Dreaming of your 2019 holiday already? Online travel agent Opodo revealed some helpful tips and hacks when booking your next holiday to save a few pounds.

Opodo recently analysed all return flights departing the UK, from October 2017 to September 2018, to help travellers secure the best possible deal when booking flights.

Across the nation, it was the summer month of June which proved the best month to fly with an average ticket price of GBP 245. Conversely, the most expensive month to fly in was December, with an average price of GBP 378.

Opodo discovered Friday is the cheapest day of the week to book a flight, with an average ticket price of GBP 244. Interestingly, Friday is closely followed by Monday at GBP 245.

Depending on where exactly you plan to travel, the ideal planning time varies. For short-haul domestic flights, the cheapest deals can be found by booking two months in advance. For long-haul flights to the US the best prices can be found by booking roughly a month in advance (29 days) and for flights to Asia, it’s best to book 3 months in advance.

Opodo has analysed and surveyed flight data to learn the different favourite destinations that people choose to travel to and from a UK airport. Below are the flight prices across the country:
