Three quarters of MPs believe the Government should do more to develop jobs in the domestic, inbound and outbound tourism industries with a combined focus on all three.
A ComRes poll of 150 MPs found 76% favoured Government’s input in job creation in the tourism sector, while 70% agreed each sector should be given equal importance.
It comes as ABTA prepares to launch its Tourism Mix Manifesto next week that will propose how the Government can drive growth in all three areas.
“The tourism industry has an incredible potential to employ more people and contribute more to the UK’s economic recovery if the right policies are put in place by Ministers,” said Luke Pollard, head of public affairs at ABTA.
“We will be presenting our recommendations about how Government can help tourism businesses to grow, employ more people and add to economic growth when we launch our set of policies for creating a vibrant tourism mix in Parliament on 27 February,” he added.
