Almost a year after Open Destinations first announced it had bought up travel app Tineri, the travel tech company has launched a new functionality for Destination Management Companies (DMCs) within the same application.
Speaking at the time of the acquisition, Open Destinations’ CEO, Kevin O’Sullivan said: “Tour operators want to engage more fully with their customers. Tineri allows them to offer a fantastic looking mobile application that keeps their customers informed and provide high levels of service throughout the trip.”
He then hinted potential upgrades: “We are planning to open up even more opportunities for them [tour operators] to upsell during tours. We believe that Tineri can really help drive additional revenue.”
Good to its CEO’s word, the new additional capabilities of Tineri means DMCs, inbound tour operators and other B2B travel supplier are able to provide their travel agent clients with mobile itineraries.
How it works
DMCs can use Tineri to provide travel agents with an app in its own livery co-branded with the DMC, or with the DMC’s branding only. The TA can also use Tineri’s content management system to add their own contact details as well as any extra information they need to include, before sending it on to the end traveller. In addition, Tineri’s export functions allow a DMC to easily convert a mobile itinerary into a PDF document for quoting and documentation.
Discussing the potential of the new DMC tool, O’Sullivan said: “Tineri is a great tool for DMCs to publish their itineraries onto a mobile device. However, just as important is that it allows the DMC to be able to connect with travellers during their trip to help prevent and resolve any service issues.
“Given that over 90% of us carry our mobile with devices with us when we travel, Tineri is a really powerful communication tool for tour operators, travel agents, and now for DMCs as well.”
