ROBINSON, the premium club brand of TUI Hotels & Resorts, plans to expand in Egypt with a new adults-only resort in Somabay. The company expects to open the property in 2029. It announced the development at World Travel Market in London and also extended the contract for ROBINSON SOMA BAY until 2028. The existing resort will then undergo a major renovation.
The new resort will sit about one kilometre from the existing club. It will feature around 250 rooms and focus on sports, dining, entertainment and relaxation. The two properties will offer distinct holiday experiences. ROBINSON SOMA BAY will retain its 'FOR ALL' positioning, while the new resort will cater exclusively to adults.
"Somabay is an established and highly successful destination for ROBINSON. With a second club, we are creating an additional, clearly differentiated offering and reaching new customer groups," said Bernd Mäser, CEO of TUI Hotels & Resorts.
The expansion supports TUI Hotels & Resorts' strategy to grow its hotel and club brands and reach new customer segments. ROBINSON already operates multiple clubs with different concepts in destinations such as Fuerteventura, the Maldives, Cape Verde and Türkiye.
The company will also modernise ROBINSON SOMA BAY. Plans include refurbishing guest rooms, reception and lobby areas, the swimming pool, spa and fitness facilities, bars and theatre. The resort will also add a new sports pool and ROBY CLUB.
The expansion and renovation form part of ROBINSON's efforts to enhance its holiday offerings and support TUI Group's sustainability goals.
