Sarovar opens Kenyan airport hotel

India’s Sarovar Hotels has opened a new high-end hotel at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The Lazizi Premiere Nairobi was inaugurated recently by HE Uhuru Kenyatta, the current President of Kenya and son of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya’s first president who gives his name to the airport.

The new premium property is located within the airport grounds and guests will be offered complimentary transfers to the terminal building.

“Kenya is the business hub for Africa and has one of the most diverse accommodation facilities. Nairobi being the hub of East Africa offers a great launch pad for our expansion and growing our footprint in the African region,” said Ajay K. Bakaya, Sarovar’s managing director.

“Travellers in transit, airline crews and other local and international visitors intending to avoid traffic en route to the airport have not had much luck as most hotels are still quite a distance from the main international airport in the capital city. We are aiming to tap that segment with The Lazizi Premiere,” he added.

The new hotel offers 144 rooms, plus facilities including a rooftop swimming pool and pool bar, fitness centre, restaurant, coffee shop, bar, and meeting space for up to 200 guests.

This becomes Sarovar’s third property in Kenya, following the Heron Portico and Zehneria Portico in Nairobi. The company also operates hotels in Tanzania and South Sudan, along with a large portfolio in India.
