The New Terminal One at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) announced a new strategic partnership with China Eastern Airlines on Wednesday, 22nd October. China Eastern Airlines joins the rapidly growing community of international airlines that have selected the New Terminal One as their partner to deliver a world-class guest experience at JFK, the largest aviation gateway into the United States. Currently located at the existing Terminal 1, the airline will continue to offer nonstop service between Shanghai and New York from New Terminal One, providing travelers with seamless access to one of Asia's most important financial and cultural hubs. Beyond convenience According to Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general Lee Thai Hung, the introduction of this new air connectivity marks a significant step forward in strengthening the dynamic alongside growing tourism ties between Malaysia and China. China Eastern Airlines teamed up with au courant toy company POP MART to present a limited-edition DIMOO-themed aircraft Unveiled on Friday, 4th July, the livery celebrates five decades of diplomatic ties between the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Thailand. The custom designed aircraft will serve routes connecting major cities in China with Bangkok. The initiative follows the formal recognition of DIMOO as a Special Friend of the China-Thailand Golden Jubilee at an official reception held on 30th June. In attendance at the event were Piyapak Sricharoen, director-general of the Department of East Asian Affairs at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Chang Yumeng, minister-counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand. China Eastern Airlines to expand reach in Europe with three new destinations
China Eastern Airlines announced the expansion of its flight network in Europe for summer 2025. The announcement comes just as the airline launched a new direct route to the Swiss city of Geneva from its home hub in Shanghai. The maiden flight on the new Shanghai-Geneva route took off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Monday, 16th June. This new route flies four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays,and Saturdays; and also has the distinction of being the first-ever direct flight between the two cities run by a Chinese airline. These flights are operated with the airline’s Airbus A350 and A330 units. Other destinations Aside from its new Shanghai-Geneva route, China Eastern’s new Shanghai-Copenhagen itinerary took off yesterday, 17th June. Likewise, the new Shanghai-Milan route will spread its wings on Friday, 20th June. The addition of the three new routes means China Eastern will be flying to 15 European destinations this season.

Moreover, by offering connecting routes via Kunming, this expansion creates broader opportunities to attract outbound travelers from key Chinese cities to Malaysia.
Etihad celebrates JV with China Eastern Airlines at ATM2025
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and China Eastern Airlines have officially launched their landmark Joint Venture (JV) during a ceremony held at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai this week. The launch follows the successful arrival of China Eastern’s inaugural MU237 flight from Shanghai to Abu Dhabi on 28 April, which was celebrated with a welcome ceremony at Zayed International Airport. The service starts with four weekly frequencies and will increase to a daily frequency starting 12 September 2025, further boosting connectivity between the UAE and China. Seamless connectivity and a stronger combined network Building upon the launch of the Joint Venture, the two airlines have also signed a new agreement between their respective loyalty programmes at the Arabian Travel Market on 29 April. Starting 1 June 2025, members of Etihad Guest and Eastern Miles programmes can earn and redeem miles across both airlines' global networks — unlocking greater value and seamless travel experiences for loyalty members. The Etihad Airways – China Eastern Airlines JV, initially announced in June 2024, now becomes operational, offering seamless connectivity and a stronger combined network. This JV signifies the long-standing ties between the UAE and China by offering expanded travel options and seamless travel experiences for passengers travelling between major Chinese cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Xi’an, and Kunming, and key cities in the UAE and across the Middle East and Africa regions. The new China Eastern flight currently operates four times weekly (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays), with a one-way flight duration of approximately 9 hours and 20 minutes. The A330 aircraft is equipped with high-speed inflight Wi-Fi, enabling passengers to stay connected throughout the journey.
China Eastern Airlines to launch direct flights between Shanghai and Abu Dhabi
China Eastern Airlines has announced the launch of direct flights connecting Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, set to commence on 28th April 2025. This marks the first time a Chinese airline has introduced a direct route between the two cities. According to China Daily, the Shanghai-Abu Dhabi route will be jointly operated by China Eastern Airlines and Etihad Airways, based in Abu Dhabi. Flights are scheduled to operate every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Departures will occur from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, with return flights from Abu Dhabi on the same day (local time). Abu Dhabi's strategic location, free trade zone policies, and strong presence in the energy and financial sectors support Chinese enterprises expanding their global footprint. The new route is expected to enhance trade, investment, and cultural exchanges between the UAE and China. It will also strengthen connectivity between the Yangtze River Delta region and the Gulf region, facilitating smoother business and tourism flows. China Eastern announces direct Shanghai-Venice route
Shanghai's China Eastern Airlines announced a new direct route to Venice from 26 September. The thrice-weekly schedule flies out to Venice’s Marco Polo International Airport from Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
