Tourism Fiji has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tongcheng Travel, a major Chinese online travel platform, to strengthen its presence in China. Signed at Tongcheng Travel's headquarters in Suzhou, the agreement will use AI-driven and data-led marketing, product distribution and co-branding campaigns to make Fiji more accessible to Chinese travellers.

The partnership will combine the strengths of both organisations to raise Fiji's profile and expand the range of experiences available to Chinese visitors.

Dr Paresh Pant, CEO of Tourism Fiji, said the collaboration would help connect Chinese travellers with Fiji's natural attractions and cultural heritage.

"By combining Fiji’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and diverse tourism experiences with Tongcheng Travel’s unique platform reach, we aim to build greater awareness of Fiji and create more opportunities for sustained tourism growth from Asia," he said.

The agreement supports Tourism Fiji's wider strategy to expand its marketing and distribution network across China. The partners will develop new travel products and holiday experiences tailored to Chinese consumer preferences.

Vincent Zheng, Regional Director of Asia and Global Chinese Market at Tourism Fiji, highlighted the potential for a long-term partnership that delivers mutual benefits and supports Fiji's growth in China.

For Tongcheng Travel, the collaboration will expand its portfolio of international travel experiences. "This partnership will further enrich our international travel offering and give Chinese travellers more diverse options for exploring Fiji," said Kimi Li, CEO of Commercial Marketing Division at Tongcheng Travel.

The alliance aims to position Fiji as a premium island destination for Chinese visitors while supporting the long-term growth of its tourism industry.
