The latest statistics fromย Quantum Metric reveal thatย the travel industry sees the highest share of mobile traffic (73%), yet just 24% of consumers book their hotels and flights completely on mobile. In fact, unmet demands around app stability, payment reliability and security may be hindering mobile booking conversions.
In the new mobile benchmark report,ย โThe role of mobile performance in building consumer confidenceโ,ย key findings include:
- 59%ย of consumersย research their next trip on mobile. However, they may not follow through with the transaction asย 69%ย of shoppersย researchย high-value itemsย on mobileย and thenย buy on desktop.
- In fact, justย 24%ย bookย theirย hotels and flights completely on mobile, withย desktop order valuesย in the travel sector nearlyย two times higher than mobileย in 2024.
- Justย 17%ย of people feel confident making purchasesย over $250 on mobile. And onlyย 25%ย feel confidentย booking a flight or hotel on mobile.
- Theย key causeย ofย distrust and discomfortย on mobile isย errorsย that cause inaccuracies or roadblocks (43%), followed by aย lack of toolsย compared to desktop (33%) andย securityย concerns (25%).
- 45%ย of consumers haveย encountered bugsย when shopping on mobile, causingย half to abandonย their activity. Additionally,ย 55% wouldย abandonย transactions that takeย longer than 3-5 minutes.
