According to WeSwap, the world’s first peer-to-peer currency exchange service, 6.4 million Brits now take part in activities that reduce their carbon footprint when abroad.
The total number of Brits concerned about the part they play in reducing their carbon footprint and doing their part for the environment is on the rise. With 2020 on the horizon and many people starting to think about their next holiday getaway already, it seems both holidaymakers and the travel industry are making considerable steps to incorporate sustainability into their travel plans, more than ever before.
In light of this, WeSwap, with over 500,000 users, has commissioned nationally representative research across a sample of more than 2,000 UK adults to reveal how British holidaymakers are becoming more carbon-conscious when planning their holidays:
- 13% of Brits, representing 6.4 million people, are choosing eco-friendly resorts or take part in activities that reduce their carbon footprint when abroad
- 38% of holidaymakers, representing 18.7 million people, say that travelling is their top priority when budgeting for 2019
