Wyndham Grand Phuket launches stingless bee project

This initiative utilises stingless bees, known for their efficient pollination, to improve the yield and quality of fruits, herbs, and edible flowers

Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay has introduced a "Stingless Bee" project at its organic orchard, enhancing its sustainable farm-to-table dining experience.

Developed with 99Hives, the project utilises stingless bees, known for their efficient pollination, to improve the yield and quality of fruits, herbs, and edible flowers on the property.

Spanning 6,000 square metres, the orchard grows a variety of fruits, including pineapples and bananas, alongside herbs like lemongrass and ginger.

The resort also composts food scraps to nourish the orchard, completing a sustainability loop; likewise, enhanced pollination supports the growth of herbs and flowers used in spa treatments at ZANA Spa.

Something to enjoy, experiences to cherish

The stingless bees produce pot-honey, a rare honey used in the resort's gourmet dishes, desserts, and craft cocktails. This honey is noted for its unique flavour and health benefits, such as being rich in antioxidants and supporting digestive health.

Dominic Egger, Director of Operations Thailand at Travel + Leisure Co., stated, "The Stingless Bee project marks a significant step in our sustainability journey by improving pollination in our orchard and ensuring a more consistent, abundant, and higher-quality harvest."

Guests can engage with the orchard through cooking classes that include tours and the opportunity to pick fresh ingredients for Thai dishes.

The orchard also hosts events like "Stargazing Night & Local Bites," offering a connection to nature and local flavours.

Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay, overlooking the Andaman Sea, features 194 rooms and villas, many with private infinity pools.

The resort is part of Club Wyndham Asia, developed by Travel + Leisure Co., providing over six million holidays annually.
