Wyndham Hotel Group has entered into a franchise agreement to launch its Tryp brand in the Philippines.
Under the deal with Microtel Inns & Suites (Pilipinas) Inc, at least eight Tryp by Wyndham hotels will be developed in the country over the next 10 years, with the first property expected to open at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City in 2016.
As well as becoming the first Tryp hotel in the Philippines, this development will mark the brand’s arrival in Southeast Asia.
“We are thrilled to introduce Tryp by Wyndham to the Philippines as we look to expand the brand’s presence throughout Asia,” said Wyndham’s president & managing director for Southeast Asia & Pacific Rim, Barry Robinson.
“The country is a unique destination that is growing in popularity and a place where the brand’s differentiating service culture and passion will resonate with travellers. We look forward to seeing the first of many Tryp by Wyndham hotels open in the country.”
The Southeast Asian launch continues the expansion of the Tryp brand, which Wyndham acquired from Sol Melia in 2010. Australia’s first Tryp opened in Brisbane in 2014 and in March this year the brand launched in Abu Dhabi.
Wyndham calls Tryp a “select-service lifestyle hotel brand” which is focused on providing accommodation for younger travellers in city centre locations.
Microtel Inns & Suites (Pilipinas) Inc is also the master franchisee in the Philippines for Wyndham’s Microtel Inn & Suites brand, which currently has 13 properties in the Philippines. In total, Wyndham now operates 19 hotels in the country under its Days Inn, Ramada and Microtel brands.
