Emirates has introduced a series of innovative solutions aimed at enhancing travel accessibility for passengers with disabilities at the AccessAbilities Expo 2026 in Dubai. The airline's interactive stand at the event, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 19-21 October, highlights its commitment to inclusivity in aviation.
Among the key innovations presented is a cabin exploration experience designed for passengers who are blind or have low vision. This immersive experience utilises spatial audio, tactile seat exploration, and guided host interaction to recreate the aircraft cabin environment, allowing passengers to travel with greater independence and dignity.
Emirates also showcased its Biometric Path at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport, featuring accessible boarding gates with self-adjusting cameras for passengers in wheelchairs. Additionally, a new accessible lounge suite offers a quiet, comfortable space for passengers with reduced mobility to rest before their flights.
The airline's efforts are part of a broader initiative to make aviation more inclusive. Mostafa Karam, Divisional Senior Vice President of Customer Affairs and Service Audit at Emirates, stated, “Emirates’ ambition is to help shape a more inclusive future for aviation as part of the core customer experience.”
Previously, Emirates established an Office of Accessibility and Inclusion and became the world’s first autism-certified airline in March 2025. The airline has trained over 35,000 staff to support customers with autism and introduced the ‘Travel Rehearsal’ initiative across six continents.
These developments underscore Emirates' dedication to reducing barriers and expanding travel options for passengers with disabilities, promising a more inclusive future in aviation.
