Marriott International has announced an agreement with Dubbo Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the Fiji National Provident Fund, to introduce the JW Marriott brand to Fiji. The JW Marriott Fiji Resort & Spa will be located on Denarau Island. It is set to open in the first quarter of 2027, with reservations starting in December 2026. This will be Marriott's first luxury brand resort in the Pacific Islands.
The new resort will transform the existing Westin Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, a well-established property in Fiji's hospitality scene. The project aims to elevate Fiji's luxury travel market with a mindful and holistic experience. The resort will feature 282 rooms, including premium guestrooms, suites and two-bedroom villas with private pools.
Guests can enjoy a large family pool and an adults-only pool with a poolside bar. Dining options will include a restaurant combining global flavours with Pacific traditions.
Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International Asia Pacific Excluding China, expressed excitement about the collaboration. He stated, "Fiji is one of the Pacific's most compelling resort destinations, and we are excited to work with Fiji National Provident Fund to introduce JW Marriott to the market."
Viliame Vodonaivalu, CEO of Fiji National Provident Fund, highlighted the significance of the investment. He noted its potential to create long-term value for Fiji's economy and tourism industry.
The resort will also cater to events with a 309-square-metre ballroom and five meeting rooms. It will offer a luxury retreat for Marriott Bonvoy members and travellers seeking a restorative experience on Denarau Island.
