Types of wedding

Thai ceremony

The two-hour ceremony officially begins as the monks arrive and guests are led in procession to the venue by the drum parade. Nneck garlands are offered to the couple and the groom presents the bridal bouquet to the bride. The couple lights candles and incense sticks as the monks commence the blessing ceremony.

A holy thread is placed over the newlyweds’ heads while their foreheads are marked with powder for prosperity. Guests pour scented holy water over the newlyweds’ hands and wish them well for their future together then cake cutting and toasting concludes the day.

Western ceremony

The ceremony officially begins as the master of ceremonies arrives then guests are led in procession to the venue.

The bride and the groom’s friends and family and well-wishers greet the couple before the exchange of vows and rings followed by a nuptial blessing. The celebrant declares the couple as husband and wife and they cut the cake and lead toasts.

Indian ceremony
