Skyscanner has partnered with Turo, the world’s largest car sharing marketplace, to announce a global partnership that offers users a greater selection of cars for their upcoming getaway trips. The partnership is now live in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Australia, with Turo vehicle inventory being offered directly to Skyscanner users via their site.
Users can book from Turo’s extraordinary selection of over 1,600 makes and models from an expansive network of hosts in over 16,000 cities. This partnership aims to make trip planning even more convenient by enabling users to compare flight and car options all in one place.
It remains to be seen which cars will be the most popular this summer, but currently some of the most booked makes are Chevrolet and Jeep in the US, Honda and Dodge in Canada, Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz in the UK.* It’s worth adding that some of the most booked UK destinations for this summer include Heathrow, Gatwick, Edinburgh, and Manchester,* so it’s clear airports are, as expected, a key focus for travellers. With a host’s permission, cars on Turo can also be driven across to Europe, further extending the trip.
For Australians experiencing winter down under, some of the most booked cars so far this season include the Toyota HiAce and Kia Carnival**. These are go-to picks for winter road trips thanks to their roomy interiors, smooth ride, and plenty of space for friends, family, and gear. It’s no surprise that on Turo, the top Aussie pick-up destinations are airport suburbs, such as Mascot (which includes Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport) and Melbourne Airport** - ideal for exploring the scenic routes across Victoria and New South Wales.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Skyscanner to make booking the perfect car as seamless as finding the right flight or hotel,” said Rory Brimmer, Managing Director of Turo UK. “This partnership will provide new and existing customers a convenient way to book cars that match their trip, whether that’s a budget-friendly ride, a roomy SUV, or something a little more special.”
Kacper Trela, Senior Commercial Manager, at Skyscanner, said: “We love putting the best travel options in front of our travellers - and what Turo offers definitely ticks that box! With over 160m users a month coming to our travel search sites, Turo is going to be able to tap into great global demand. We are so happy to have Turo onboard our metasearch platform which offers accurate, up-to-date and transparent pricing across flights, hotels and car so that our travellers can search for their perfect trip.”
