Etihad Airways and Sotheby’s have announced a strategic partnership, with Etihad serving as the Presenting Partner for Sotheby’s two-part exhibition, Icons: Back to Madison. This exhibition, showcasing nearly $2 billion worth of masterpieces, is set to take place in Abu Dhabi and New York, offering a rare glimpse into some of the most iconic works ever sold by Sotheby’s.
The exhibition debuted in Abu Dhabi from 2 to 6 December at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island and will continue in New York from 13 to 21 December at Sotheby’s new global headquarters on Madison Avenue. The collection includes over 25 works, featuring notable pieces such as Andy Warhol’s Shot Orange Marilyn and Banksy’s Girl Without Balloon.
Courtney Kremers, Sotheby’s Vice Chairman, remarked, “Icons is more than an exhibition—it’s a celebration of Sotheby’s legacy and a return to our roots on Madison Avenue.” Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways, added, “Our collaboration with Sotheby’s reflects our shared commitment to delivering remarkable experiences that connect cultures and inspire discovery.”
Etihad, known for transporting luxury goods, will exclusively carry the Icons Collection via its FlyCulture service. The airline operates twice daily flights from Abu Dhabi to New York’s JFK International Airport, benefiting from the unique US Customs Preclearance facility in Abu Dhabi. This partnership marks a significant cultural collaboration, with future plans to expand Sotheby’s luxury offerings to the skies.
