IAG Loyalty has unveiled the most popular destinations for Avios redemptions in 2025, with New York emerging as the top choice for members of The British Airways Club. The data, released on 30 December, highlights the destinations that have captured the interest of travellers using the global reward currency Avios.
New York, renowned for its vibrant city life, has become the most sought-after destination for Avios redemptions, reflecting its enduring appeal for those seeking an iconic city break. Edinburgh, the Scottish capital, secured the second spot, followed by Madrid and Nice, which ranked third and fourth, respectively. Other popular short-haul destinations include Geneva, Barcelona, Malaga, and Glasgow.
In the long-haul category, Doha and Dubai were the only other cities to make the top 10, ranking fifth and ninth, respectively. This trend indicates a growing interest in warmer climates and international gateways among Avios users.
The analysis also reveals a surge in interest for lesser-known destinations. Ivalo in Finnish Lapland and Tromsø in Northern Norway have seen significant growth in Avios redemptions, thanks to new routes launched by British Airways. Additionally, Bangkok and Jeddah have experienced increased popularity for long-haul travel.
Overall, 70% of the top 10 destinations for Avios redemptions in 2025 were in Europe, highlighting a preference for cost-effective short-haul travel among customers. As travellers plan their 2026 getaways, these insights provide valuable inspiration for future adventures.
