Emirates unveils new vegan menu for 2027

Emirates is set to revolutionise its in-flight dining with a new vegan menu, focusing on whole, minimally processed foods. The airline's team of chefs is developing dishes that celebrate traditional culinary practices without relying on engineered plant-based meats. This initiative aligns with Emirates' sustainability goals and responds to growing consumer demand for health-conscious choices. The new menu is expected to be available to passengers in 2027.

The airline currently serves half a million vegan meals annually, with 488 vegan recipes in rotation across 140 destinations. This marks a 60% increase in recipes since 2024, highlighting Emirates' commitment to catering to vegan customers. Popular destinations for vegan meal orders include London, Sydney, and Bangkok. Emirates Vice President of Food & Beverage Design, Doxis Bekris, stated, “Our focus now is on legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, and seasonal vegetables as the heroes of the plate.”

Emirates' vegan offerings span all classes, from Economy to First Class, featuring dishes like pumpkin frittata and sticky date pudding. The airline also incorporates fresh produce from Bustanica, the world's largest hydroponic vertical farm, ensuring pesticide-free ingredients. Vegan options are available for pre-order on all flights and are included in the main menu on high-demand routes.

In addition to in-flight meals, Emirates' lounges at Dubai International Airport offer a variety of vegan dishes, including the popular Emirates Green Burger. This initiative underscores Emirates' dedication to providing diverse and sustainable dining options for its passengers.
