United Airlines has announced significant enhancements for its MileagePlus credit and debit cardholders, offering them the opportunity to earn up to twice as many miles on United flights compared to non-cardholders. Starting from 2 April, primary MileagePlus cardholders will benefit from increased mileage accrual and exclusive discounts on award tickets. For instance, MileagePlus 1K members can earn 17 miles per dollar spent on eligible flights when using their United Club card.
The airline is also providing cardholders with at least 10% off every United award ticket, with MileagePlus Premier members enjoying a minimum of 15% savings. Additionally, cardholders gain access to Saver Award inventory in United Polaris Business Class, previously reserved for Platinum and 1K members. This means general members with a card can book Polaris Saver Award seats for as low as 72,000 miles, whilst Premier status cardholders can secure them for 68,000 miles.
Andrew Nocella, United's Chief Commercial Officer, emphasised the value of the MileagePlus programme, stating, "MileagePlus members can now earn more miles faster with a United card – and every one of those miles will go further with our always-on award ticket discounts and expanded access to Saver Award fares."
These enhancements are part of United's strategy to reward loyalty and provide its most dedicated customers with industry-leading benefits. The airline's card portfolio includes options like the United Explorer Card and the United Quest Card, with plans to introduce new cards in Brazil, Canada, and the UK this spring. MileagePlus remains free to join, offering members benefits such as miles that never expire and no change fees on award tickets
