Airport Parking and Hotels (APH) has unveiled research indicating that the introduction of Starlink Wi-Fi in 2026 will significantly enhance inflight connectivity for UK travellers. The study highlights that major airlines, including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and Qatar Airways, are set to implement this high-speed satellite technology, promising faster and more reliable internet access during flights.
The research, accessible at APH's website, compares current Wi-Fi policies across airlines, focusing on device rules, pricing, and the rollout of Starlink. British Airways, Air France, Iberia, Virgin Atlantic, LEVEL, and Vueling are among those planning to introduce Starlink in 2026, whilst Qatar Airways has already started its implementation on select aircraft. This advancement is expected to provide free high-speed Wi-Fi on long-haul routes, enhancing the passenger experience.
Nick Caunter, Managing Director of APH, commented, "High speed satellite Wi-Fi will be a major improvement for passengers who want to stay connected in the sky, whether for business, entertainment or keeping in touch with family."
The study also identifies airlines currently offering strong onboard connectivity. British Airways provides free messaging for Executive Club members, whilst Delta Air Lines and Air Canada offer free Wi-Fi for loyalty members on many flights. However, restrictions on high-bandwidth activities like video streaming remain common, urging travellers to check allowances before flying.
As airlines prepare for this technological shift, passengers can anticipate a more consistent and high-quality inflight internet experience, marking a significant step forward in aviation connectivity
