Vingroup launches Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway

Vingroup, in collaboration with the People's Committees of Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Bac Ninh, has officially launched the Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway project. Scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, the railway will feature a maximum design speed of 350 km/h, reducing travel time between Hanoi and Quang Ninh from over two hours to approximately 23 minutes.

The project, developed by VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, a Vingroup subsidiary, represents a significant investment of over VND 147 trillion ($5.6 billion). Spanning 120.2 km, the railway will include double-track standard-gauge lines and world-class signalling systems supplied by Siemens Mobility, with plans for technology transfer to VinSpeed.

The railway will start at Co Loa Station in Hanoi and end at Ha Long Station in Quang Ninh, with intermediate stops in Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh. The project aims to boost the Northern Key Economic Region and enhance Vietnam's national competitiveness.

Bui Van Khang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Province, highlighted the project's significance, stating, "The Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway is a megaproject that carries significant expectations." Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup, added, "Today's launch affirms Vingroup's strong commitment to infrastructure development."

This project follows VinSpeed's December 2025 groundbreaking of the Ben Thanh–Can Gio railway line in Ho Chi Minh City, further solidifying Vingroup's role in advancing Vietnam's transport infrastructure
