European Consumer Claims (ECC) is celebrating its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of significant achievements in consumer advocacy. Established in June 2016, ECC was founded to combat the widespread abuse in the timeshare industry, particularly in Spain, where holidaymakers were often misled by aggressive sales tactics. Over the years, ECC has successfully secured tens of millions of pounds in compensation for clients who were mis-sold timeshares.

Operating from its head office in Henley-on-Thames, with additional offices in Spain and Florida, ECC has expanded its mission beyond timeshares. In 2024, the firm launched the Holiday Park Advice Centre to address consumer abuses in holiday parks, achieving early victories through out-of-court settlements. More recently, ECC has targeted retirement community property developers, where consumer abuses have been particularly damaging.

Greg Wilson, ECC's CEO, emphasised the ongoing need for consumer protection, stating, "There will always be a need for unofficial arbitrators like ECC." He highlighted the evolving nature of consumer abuse and the firm's commitment to tackling new challenges as they arise.

With a team of 150 staff and a claims portfolio exceeding £100 million, ECC is poised for further growth. As Wilson noted, "The last ten years have been a meteoric rise for ECC. But we really are just getting started." The firm remains dedicated to supporting individuals who have been mis-sold or unfairly treated, using legal instruments like the Consumer Rights Act to pursue redress
