Eden Camp is set to honour the vital contributions of women during World War II with its 'Women at War' summer programme, running from 17 July to 31 August.
The programme, designed to engage families and history enthusiasts, will feature interactive activities, workshops, and live experiences that highlight the roles women played in keeping Britain operational during the war.
Visitors can explore a variety of themed activities, including the 'Women at War Poo Clues Trail', where families can follow an educational trail inspired by the Women's Land Army. Additionally, the 'Little Evacuees Workshop' offers children hands-on experiences of life on the Home Front, such as creating cardboard gas masks and learning about wartime rationing.
Eden Camp is also participating in the Great British Summer Savings scheme, implementing a full VAT reduction to make visits more affordable. Advance tickets start at $18.00 (£14.75) for adults and $15.85 (£13) for children, with family tickets available from $32.10 (£26.25).
Nick Hill, Museum Manager at Eden Camp, expressed enthusiasm about the programme, stating, "Our Women at War programme is full of hands-on and interactive activities that bring history to life for all ages."
The camp, located near Malton, is a preserved World War II prisoner of war site that now serves as an educational museum. It received $274,000 (£224,000) in funding from North Yorkshire Council to restore its original huts. Eden Camp welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually and has been recognised as the Best Educational Day Out for three consecutive years
