British Airways is set to expand its service from London Heathrow to Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) with a new daily flight starting in October 2026. This marks the first time the airline will offer year-round daily connectivity between the UK and Maryland, enhancing access for British travellers to explore the state's rich history and vibrant cities.

The timing of this expansion coincides with a new statewide tourism collaboration involving the Maryland Office of Tourism, Visit Baltimore, Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, and Visit Frederick. This partnership aims to elevate Maryland's profile in international markets, particularly the UK, by pooling resources and promoting the state's unique attractions.

Cassandra Vanhooser, Managing Director for the Maryland Office of Tourism, highlighted the significance of the increased flight frequency. "Gone are the days when travellers treated Maryland as a secondary stop," she said, noting that the state's landscapes and cultural offerings are now a primary draw for visitors.

The new service offers a seamless route for UK travellers, with fares starting at £524 return, including taxes and fees. The non-stop flight takes approximately 7 hours and 45 minutes.

Maryland's winter season offers a variety of attractions, including the Maryland Crab and Oyster Trail and a host of new exhibits and experiences across the state. Highlights include the 30th Anniversary Mega-Exhibition at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore and the newly reopened Old Treasury Building in Annapolis.

With the expanded British Airways service and the collaborative marketing efforts, Maryland is poised to welcome more British visitors, offering them a diverse and culturally rich travel experience
