Representative ImageAmerican Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) has launched a new AI-powered travel booking connector, Egencia AI, within Anthropic's AI assistant, Claude. This innovation allows enterprise travellers to book and manage air and hotel arrangements directly within their existing tools, marking a significant step in integrating travel management services into AI environments.
The Egencia AI connector is part of Amex GBT's proprietary agent-to-agent architecture, which facilitates seamless travel management by embedding services into AI platforms. This development comes as new research by Forrester Consulting, commissioned by Amex GBT, reveals that only 3% of organisations have fully integrated travel into their enterprise workflow, despite 90% of IT decision-makers expressing satisfaction with their travel tech ecosystems.
Evan Konwiser, Chief Product & Strategy Officer at Amex GBT, stated, “With our Egencia AI connector in Claude, an employee or an enterprise AI agent can now search, book and manage air and hotel for a traveller within policy, personalised, and backed by our marketplace.”
The connector, set to be available for Egencia customers in Q3, is designed to reduce the time and effort spent on travel planning, with 50% of travellers currently spending over two hours per trip on these tasks. Additionally, Amex GBT is expanding its conversational AI capabilities into platforms like Google Chat and Microsoft Teams, further embedding travel management into everyday business tools.
This move highlights Amex GBT's commitment to transforming business travel through AI, aiming to simplify processes and enhance user experience by integrating travel management into the tools employees already use
