Vinhomes Green Paradise, located in Can Gio, Vietnam, has been awarded the Interim Custom ISO 37122 Smart City Certification by the World Council on City Data (WCCD). This recognition marks a significant milestone for the development, making it the first mega urban project in Vietnam to receive such an internationally recognised certification. The certification highlights the project's commitment to sustainable urban development and smart city standards.
The WCCD's certification acknowledges Vinhomes Green Paradise's progress in smart city development, aligning with international standards. The project has been praised for its design, planning, and development strategy, which serve as a foundation for future full certification upon operational commencement. Dr Patricia McCarney, President and CEO of WCCD, stated, "This certification recognises Vinhomes' long-term vision and commitment to developing a smart, sustainable, and future-ready urban model."
The certification process involved a comprehensive assessment based on a customised indicators framework developed by WCCD for greenfield projects. This framework incorporates the core principles of ISO 37122, a respected international standard for evaluating smart city performance.
Vinhomes Green Paradise, spanning 2,870 hectares, benefits from its unique location near the UNESCO-recognised Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve. The project aims to utilise 100% clean electricity from renewable sources and achieve net-zero emissions in transportation. Additionally, a Forest Regeneration and Climate Adaptation Fund will support biodiversity conservation and ecosystem regeneration.
As the first official participant in the "7 Wonders of the Future Cities" campaign, Vinhomes Green Paradise continues to advance its vision of a smart and sustainable urban model, setting a precedent for future developments worldwide
