Air India Express has launched a special Onasadya meal for passengers flying between Kerala and West Asia during the Onam festival. The initiative, unveiled in Thiruvananthapuram by P. C. Vishnunadh, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinema, allows travellers to pre-book the festive meal from 15 August to 31 August 2026 via the airline's website or mobile app.
The Onasadya meal, priced at $6 (₹500), includes traditional Kerala dishes such as Matta Rice with Parippu, Sambar, Avial, and Palada Pradhaman, served on a banana leaf in Kasavu-inspired packaging. This offering aims to bring the spirit of Onam to passengers, showcasing Kerala's rich culinary heritage and hospitality.
Sunil Suresh, Head-Marketing, E-commerce, and Loyalty at Air India group, highlighted the significance of Kerala to the airline's network, stating that the Onasadya initiative celebrates the state's traditions and serves the large Malayali community. Air India Express operates approximately 2,850 monthly flights from Kerala's international airports, with 70% connecting to 13 destinations in West Asia, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Riyadh.
This initiative not only enhances the travel experience but also strengthens cultural connections for the Malayali diaspora and other international travellers
