Digital travel platform Agoda has reported a significant increase in European interest in travelling to India for the summer of 2026. Based on accommodation search data from April to June 2026, India experienced a 14% year-on-year rise in searches for travel during July and August. The United Kingdom led the European markets driving this interest, followed by Germany, the Netherlands, France, and Italy.

Slovakia, Croatia, and Ireland showed the most notable growth in searches, with Slovakia experiencing a 148% increase. Meanwhile, Thailand remains the top Asian destination for European travellers, with Indonesia and Japan following closely. However, India, South Korea, and Vietnam are emerging as the fastest-growing destinations, indicating a shift towards more diverse travel itineraries.

Within India, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa are the most-searched cities among European travellers. New Delhi and Mumbai serve as major international gateways, offering rich cultural and urban experiences, whilst Goa attracts visitors with its beaches and vibrant hospitality.

Gaurav Malik, Country Director for the Indian Subcontinent & Indian Ocean Islands at Agoda, noted, "India's growing popularity among European travellers reflects a broader shift in how international visitors are discovering the country. Beyond iconic landmarks, travellers are increasingly seeking authentic cultural experiences, wellness retreats, culinary journeys, and nature-led escapes."

As European travellers finalise their summer plans, Agoda continues to facilitate seamless bookings across millions of holiday properties, flight routes, and activities worldwide. This growing interest from European markets, including Türkiye, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, highlights a broader trend of increasing Asian travel interest across the continent
