Alaska Airlines has announced the introduction of new nonstop flights from Seattle to Athens and Paris, set to commence in May 2027. This expansion marks the airline as the first to connect Seattle directly with Athens, and the only carrier offering nonstop service from the West Coast to Greece's capital. The Paris route will also be a first for a oneworld airline from the West Coast, catering to the high demand for transatlantic travel.
The new routes are part of Alaska Airlines' strategy to expand its global network, with tickets now available for purchase. The airline is offering introductory roundtrip fares starting at $999 (US$999), available until 26 August. Ben Minicucci, CEO of Alaska Airlines, stated, "We fly where our guests aspire to go, and Athens and Paris have been high on that list for years."
Flights to Athens will operate three times a week, whilst Paris will see five weekly flights. Both routes will utilise the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring lie-flat business class suites and curated dining experiences. The airline's growing network will also allow same-day connections between Honolulu and Paris, enhancing travel convenience.
George Kallimasias, Managing Director and CEO of Athens International Airport, expressed enthusiasm for the new service, highlighting its potential to boost tourism, business, and trade between Greece and the US West Coast.
As Alaska Airlines continues to expand, it plans to add at least five more intercontinental destinations by 2030, reinforcing its position as Seattle's largest international carrier.
