Acclaimed wine author Ray Isle is set to lead an eight-day river cruise through Germany's Rhine and Moselle wine regions from 17 to 24 September. Organised by Teeming River Cruises, this unique journey coincides with the early grape harvest, offering guests a rare opportunity to witness the 2026 vintage as it unfolds.
Isle, known for his bestselling book "The World in a Wineglass" and his role as Executive Wine Editor of Food & Wine, will host exclusive presentations and tastings aboard the MS Nobleman. He will provide insights into the winemaking process, drawing on his extensive experience documenting independent winemakers.
This year's unusually high mid-summer temperatures have prompted an earlier harvest across Europe, creating an intriguing vintage in Germany. Guests will visit vineyard towns such as Cochem and Winningen, experiencing the local wine culture and seasonal traditions. The cruise also offers the chance to taste Federweißer, a young, fizzy wine available only during the harvest.
Jeff Paglialonga, owner of Teeming River Cruises, expressed excitement about the event, stating, "We saw an opportunity to create something different. With the early grape harvest coinciding with this sailing, we wanted to give our wine-loving guests a rare firsthand wine-country experience, led by one of the industry’s top storytellers."
The cruise, named after Isle's book, combines Teeming's independent approach to river cruising with special wine experiences.
