Japan's luxury cruise line, Mitsui Ocean Cruises, is set to launch its second five-star ship, Mitsui Ocean Sakura, on 19 September 2026. To celebrate, Cruise Traveller, the exclusive representative for Mitsui in Australia, is offering special fly-free packages for 2027 voyages around Japan. The Mitsui Ocean Sakura, formerly known as Seabourn Sojourn, joins its sister ship, Mitsui Ocean Fuji, in providing an immersive Japanese experience.
Both ships accommodate 458 guests and feature fine dining restaurants, plush lounges, and wellness centres. Ninety per cent of staterooms offer private balconies, ensuring guests enjoy ocean views. The cruises are designed to immerse guests in Japanese culture, guided by the philosophies of 'funatabi' and 'omotenashi', which focus on heritage and meticulous hospitality.
Cruise Traveller Managing Director Joe O’Sullivan stated, “Nobody knows Japan like Mitsui Ocean Cruises, offering a bespoke way of discovering the country's wonders.” The new packages for April and September 2027 include free return flights to Tokyo from major Australian cities and range from seven to 12 nights, starting at $5,670 (A$8,799) per person.
One highlight is a nine-night journey aboard Mitsui Ocean Sakura, departing 17 September 2027, during Japan's 'Silver Week'. This itinerary explores Honshu and five lesser-visited ports. Priced from $7,285 (A$11,299) per person, it includes excursions, selected beverages, and Wi-Fi. Bookings made by 30 November 2026 will receive free return flights. The offer extends to four other sailings aboard Mitsui Ocean Fuji.
