American Airlines expands European routes for summer 2027

American Airlines has announced the addition of three new European destinations for summer 2027: Reykjavík, Vienna, and Porto. This expansion will see the airline flying to 23 cities across Europe, with the new routes launching in early May. The airline will be the first US carrier to offer direct flights to Vienna, starting from Philadelphia on 6 May.

The introduction of these destinations is part of American Airlines' strategy to offer more travel options between the US and Europe.

José A. Freig, Vice President - International and Business Partner Operations, stated, "Next year, adding Reykjavík, Vienna, and Porto to our portfolio gives our customers even more amazing destinations to explore."

In addition to the new destinations, American Airlines is expanding its fleet with four new Airbus A321XLR aircraft, which will operate on five transatlantic routes. These aircraft will feature 20 Flagship Suite® seats, 12 Premium Economy seats, and 123 Main Cabin seats, offering enhanced inflight experiences with high-speed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The airline is also increasing its presence at London Heathrow, reintroducing a fourth daily flight between New York and London in partnership with British Airways. This collaboration will provide up to 14 daily flights between the two cities.
